Goals of the Career Vectors System
The CVS is made up of three major processes: (1) a Self-Assessment Process, (2) an Occupational Exploration Process and (3) a Development Process.
Upon completing the CVS, you will have undertaken a comprehensive review of major factors that contribute to your unique career identity, and your career success and satisfaction, as well as possible occupational options to explore.
The CVS can help individuals achieve the following six goals:
- The Self-Assessment Process can result in an enhancement of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-esteem through validation, affirmation, and appreciation of your strengths, unique career identity profile and a better understanding of your career potential by knowing who you are and what you have to offer.
- The CVS can help facilitate self-exploration and career exploration. It can provide a process to facilitate more informed career decision-making/career choice through greater self-understanding and knowledge of both yourself and an expanded awareness of career options and possibilities to explore.
- To enhance your personal and professional development and effectiveness by fostering an understanding of your work- related strengths and development needs.
- Enhancement of your marketability and job search effectiveness through understanding and being able to articulate what you have to offer prospective employers in terms of the kind of person you are, your strengths, skills and abilities, accomplishments, and your work-related personality characteristics.
- The CVS can facilitate the transition process including career transition/career change, (both forced and voluntary) and retirement transition by helping individuals to gain insight into their transferable skills and attributes and make more informed decisions and choices.
- Ongoing career management is critical to success in today’s economy and workplace. The CVS can provide a foundation of meaningful self-knowledge and career awareness to enable you to be more effective in the ongoing planning and management of your career.
