Unique Features of the CVS

There are several unique features of the CVS.

1. The CVS Comprehensive Version contains a very thorough description of the six Holland themes for use by professionally-oriented individuals. To our knowledge, this is the first time that in-depth information of this sort (vocational interests, skills, and personality characteristics associated with each Holland theme) has been assembled, brought together, and integrated in one instrument.

2. A good career choice represents a combination of interests (including values,) skills and abilities, and personality characteristics. A unique feature of the CVS is that it integrates the three critical assessment domains of interests, skills, and personality traits in depth, in one instrument, and relates them to the current job market.

This is consistent with Rodney Lowman’s Inter-Domain Theory of Career Assessment that places an importance on the need to integrate these three domains for a comprehensive career assessment.

3. A unique feature of the CVS is the emphasis it places on understanding work-related personality characteristics (both strengths and weaknesses) in some depth.

The CVS Comprehensive Version also contains a thorough discussion of personality and its role in career development.

4. The CVS contains an in-depth coverage of the skills identification process (including both current and potential skills.)

5. Another unique feature of the CVS is that it includes an individual development process to help individuals to understand both their work-related strengths and their development needs (weaknesses.)

6. The CVS Comprehensive Version also contains an in-depth discussion of the CVS Occupational Exploration Process and contains a more extensive list of occupational titles that reflect the current job market.

7. It also contains a discussion of the factors that affect the self-assessment process such as perfectionism.

The Comprehensive Version contains a thorough discussion of the goals of the CVS Self-Assessment and Development Process.
